Qualifications:

Dr Bolanle Wahab has Diploma degree in Town and Regional Planning from University of Ibadan an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Urban Design from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh (UK). Rd. Wahab’s research interests include sustainable urban and rural planning and development, hous­ing studies, community environmental planning and management, integrated waste management, urban/peri-urban agriculture and climate change and disaster risk management, and indigenous knowl­edge systems

Most Recent Experience and Consultancies

Reader/Associate Professor and former Acting Head, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Environmental Design and Management, University of Ibadan, and also the Pioneer Coordinator of the Postgraduate Programme in Indigenous Knowledge and Development (IKAD), Centre for Sustainable Development (CESDEV) at the University of Ibadan.

Member, International Jury to assess development plans for Lokpodji Lagoon waterfront in Porto-Novo for Les Ateliers Internationaux de maîtrise d’œuvre urbaine de Cergy-Pontoise in Porto-Novo;

Resource Person to Sustainable Ibadan Project (SIP)/Ibadan Waste Management Authority on the Planning and Management of Waste Systems and Environmental Care in Ibadan.

Resource person for the establishment of Community-based Waste Recycling/Sorting Centers in two urban slums i.e. Ayeye area of Ibadan and Ilaje-Bariga, Lagos State. 

Member, National Technical Working Group on the preparation of Draft National Healthcare Waste Management Plan for Nigeria (2007). Collection of baseline data for the preparation of environmental profile for Ibadan Metropolitan Area with funding by the UNCHS (UNHABITAT) Sustainable Cities Programme;

Facilitator, Solid Waste Management Steering Committee established under the Oyo State GovernmentInWEnt (Germany) Partnership for improved waste management in Ibadan (2007 to 2010). 2007 to 2009.

Resource Person to the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board on hygiene and sanitation promotion in primary schools in the State.

Chairperson, Oyo State Task Force on Sustainable Flood Prevention and Management.

Donor Relations:

Dr Bolanle Wahab has consulted for various donors and multilateral banks such as the UNICEF, UNHabitat, the World bank.  Examples include Consultant to the UNHabitat, Nairobi to provide technical support services to the Sustainable Ibadan Project (SIP) Working Groups, Ibadan.: Consultant to Sustainable Ibadan Project with funding from UNICEF; Consultant to UNDP on the establishment of Working Groups on poverty alleviation, street trading & neighborhood improvement in Ibadan.  Consultant to the World Bank on Nigeria Urbanization Review Project.
